The City of Floydada is open to many types of new business development and the Economic Development Corporation is here to assist your placement. The target industries listed here merely reflect those the organization has dedicated resources to attracting to our area.

Wind Energy

Wind energy is a specific area of interest for Floydada and Floyd County. In 2006, RES Americas established the first wind farm in the county with 26 turbines. The Public Utility Commission of Texas has certified the "Silverton to Cottonwood" portion of the CREZ transmission project. Taking this into consideration, Floyd County represents a prime destination for wind farm development.

Manufacturing

The manufacturing industry continues to grow in West Texas, regardless of the product type. A strong work ethic, low cost labor and no union activity provides a competitive edge comparted other states in the U.S. The State of Texas has incentives available for workforce training to assist manufacturers in preparing employees. Three machine manufacturers are currently present in Floydada and have continued to grow their operational base.
